What are maintenance checklists?

Maintenance checklists in work orders are structured lists of tasks, steps, or inspections that must be completed as part of a job or maintenance process.

Checklists serve as a guideline to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance during work execution.

Checklists in Maintainly can be used in three ways:

  • Task template checklists: Added directly to a task template to create consistency from one work order to the next, particularly in the case of preventative maintenance.

  • Pre-defined checklists: Established in advance and then added to any work order after it commences. They consist of a defined list of items to be completed that cannot be modified by the users who are completing the task.

  • Ad-hoc checklists: These can be added by any user on the fly, directly to a task. They are often used as a reminder of things or steps that are yet to be completed as a work order progresses.
