What are asset models?

Asset models effectively represent the generic make & model of equipment that you will be tracking as unique assets within the asset hierarchy.

For example, if you have 20 Toyota Hilux trucks, then "Toyota Hilux" will be created just once as an asset model (in the asset models list or one-the-fly when creating a new asset) then associated with each of the 20 individual trucks when created as unique assets in the asset hierarchy.

Asset models differ from spare parts and consumables that will be used during maintenance on any task; they will be created as materials in the materials list.

Once an asset model exists, Maintainly will auto-populate some data for you the next time you add an asset that is of that same asset model, saving time and keeping your like-assets better aligned.

When adding assets to the asset hierarchy, asset models will be created for you automatically if the manufacturer and model fields are populated.
