Work types are the categories that can be applied to reactive tasks; things like breakdowns, retrofits, inspections, and so on. They can also be used to define a particular discipline associated with a task; electric, or mechanical.

The use of work types is flexible, in order to fit within your unique industry, process, filtering or reporting requirement.

Work types are only applicable to reactive maintenance, so are therefore not used with preventative maintenance.

The use of work types is not mandatory but, if they are used, can provide an additional, and important filtering and reporting variable of work performed.

If at least one work type exists, then work type becomes a mandatory field when creating a new reactive task.

To add a work type:

  1. Navigate to Tasks > Work Types;

  2. Click New work type;

  3. Nominate the Name of the work type;

  4. Click Save.

To edit an existing work type:

NOTE: Work types can potentially have a history of tasks associated with them. Any update to a work type name will be reflected on historical tasks so should be done with caution. Often, a better approach may be to delete an unwanted work type (this will not impact task history) before adding the new work type.

  1. Navigate to Tasks > Work Types;

  2. Click the work type that is to be edited;

  3. Update the Name as required;

  4. Click Save.
