Tasks is the name Maintainly gives to what you may otherwise know as work orders in older, legacy software.

A task can be created against any asset in the asset hierarchy where the work is to be (or was) performed.

Each task may contain a title, event/failure codes, an estimation of man hours required to complete the task, and any other information deemed to be part of your organisation's work flow.

After work has been completed, the task should be completed with relevant data, including a description of the work that was performed, photographs, any conclusions or recommendations, links to related tasks in Maintainly, the work time that it took, the materials that were consumed, and so on. This data is then attached to the asset in question and can be used for various reporting purposes.

If an asset is moved in the asset hierarchy, it will take its history of tasks with it.

Task types

Tasks can be one of two core, overarching types Preventative and Reactive:

  • Preventative tasks - are tasks that are mostly generated automatically before they fall due, based on a pre-defined automation that's established on an asset (using a task template).

  • Reactive tasks - are user-created tasks for any type of unplanned work.
